Chinese 19th Century Burlwood Box

$1,450.00

This is a quietly impressive Chinese mid-to-late 19th century table or writing box. The box is of metal-mounted burl wood construction in the Ming style, but dating later. The box features a hinged lid over a well with tray over a drawer and is raised on a shaped apron and bracket feet. The chest retains its original surface, metal mounts and lock & key. The chest or coffer is in very good original condition; there is a water mark to the top surface. This box would make a great attention focus on a bookshelf, console or a desk accessory--or a great place to hide remotes.
